In this technique-rich and challenging project students will learn how to create a hinged, lidded metal clay box which can be a trinket or worn as a pendant with delicate openwork that features a clay-set cubic zirconia. You can decide what treasure to keep inside this beautiful little treasure.

Zen Doodle Inlay, # B130817
Tue. June 4, 2013 (9:00a-5:30p)

Explore the exciting world of the new Mokume Gane: combining silver and copper clays in a way that they can be fired and sinter together! Silver clay will be inlayed with copper clay in your own "doodled" design inspired by the ZenTangle phenomenon.

Golden Monarch Pendant, # B130732
Wed. June 5, 2013 (8:00a-3:00p)

A real 22 karat gold covered butterfly flutters above a garden of fine silver flowers. Learn how to secure the mobile piece while letting it fly freely over the pendant. This technique is ideal for applying gold accents to deeply textured or irregular surfaces. Prerequisite: Metal clay experience required.

Arabian Nights, # B130798
Thu. June 6, 2013 (8:30a-3:30p)

This deceptive piece resembles a fluffy decorative pillow with a Moroccan motif when in reality it is solid silver made from metal clay! Slip your own chunky necklace through the sides of the "pillow" to allow it to float effortlessly about the neck. Prerequisite: Metal clay experience required.

Caps, Clasps and Cones, # B130863
Fri. June 7, 2013 (8:30a-4:00p)

Decorative cones are the perfect way to customize your unique jewelry creations (either as silver focal pieces or as embellishments for beaded works), and metal clay is the perfect material to make them. Students will design a pair of fine-silver cones to suit their own personal style. You will also learn how to make bold caps that incorporate many techniques including shaping, texturing, dry assembly, and extruding. These special caps would be perfect to finish off a bead crochet or kumihimo rope. You will also make a matching, textured S-hook clasp. This workshop equips you to make ends beautiful enough to be in the front. Prerequisite: Metal clay experience required.

Woodgrain Ring, # B130857
Sat. June 8, 2013 (9:00a-5:00p)

This stunning ring reflects the new metal clay interpretation of an ancient technique: Mokume Gane. . This class will show you one of the numerous ways to combine copper and silver metal clays. The alternating stack of silver and copper clay is carved to reveal the wood grain pattern in this arresting ring.
